In the case of vehicle break-down or when the vehicle number is not entered at the time of generating an e-Way Bill or transshipment of goods from one vehicle to another, the user needs to modify or update the vehicle number under the Vehicle number tab. Follow the below-mentioned steps to update or modify the vehicle number in e-Way Bill:
Step 1: Log in to the e-way bills portal using valid credentials.
Step 2: From the drop-down menu of the e-Way Bill option choose Update Vehicle No.
Step 3: Once the GST taxpayer or transporter chooses that option, they will be redirected to a new page wherein they need to either choose e-Way Bill Number or Generated Date. After choosing the same you need to enter the e-way bill number or e-way generated date and click on the “Go” button.
Step 4: A new page will be open wherein the GST taxpayer or transporter needs to update the following; (i) Vehicle number (ii) Place (iii) Select the reason for the modification from the drop-down menu - Transshipment, Vehicle Break down, or not updated earlier. Step 2: Select the Consolidated EWB menu given on the left-hand side of the window and select the re-generate option from the drop down menu
There can be a case where the transporter who has originally generated the e-way bill is replaced and goods are handed over to another transporter or there may be a case where the seller needs to re-assign the Transporter ID. In such cases, the GST taxpayer or transporter as the case may be needs to modify the e-Way Bill. Here is the step by step guide using which one can easily modify the same:
