GST Registration
Goods and Services Tax commonly known as GST has subsumed all the indirect taxes such as CST, Service Tax, Excise Duty and so forth. Moreover, every enterprise whose turnover exceeds the prescribed threshold limit needs to obtain GST Registration.
Components of GST
GST has 3 tax components namely:
- CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax)
- SGST (State Goods and Services Tax)
- IGST (Integrated Goods and Services Tax)
CGST and SGST are levied on the intrastate transaction whereas IGST is levied on the interstate transaction.
Who needs a GST Registration?
Any enterprise that is involved in buying and selling the goods or services has to compulsorily obtain the GST registration when their turnover exceeds the turnover limit of 40 Lakhs INR. Any business who is carrying out any interstate sale needs to obtain the GST Registration too. Similarly, any taxable person making taxable supplies on behalf of another taxable person (agent or broker) needs to enroll himself or herself under GST.
