As per the CGST Rules, the E-Way Bill generation facility of a Taxpayer is to be blocked if he/she fails to file the returns in Form GSTR-3B or Statement in Form CMP-08, for two or more consecutive tax periods. Once GSTR-3B is completed on time, the taxpayer’s GSTIN will activate automatically. A taxpayer can also produce an eway bill immediately after submitting his / her returns by following the steps below and how to check e way bill active status, e way bill unblock status, or how to track e way bill, or how to track e way bill number
Step 1: Visit the EWB website and select the 'Search Update Status' option.
Step 2: Enter GSTIN, CAPTCHA Code, and click on 'Go'.
Step 3: Click on 'Update Unlock Status on GST Common Portal'; this will indicate the latest filling eway status.
Step 4: If this does not work, the taxpayer can access the GST Help Desk and resolve the query. Previously the Legal Officer was able to access GSTIN online for disclosure based on taxpayer submissions.
Another way to open the Eway bill was through an online application on EWB-05, which provided a sufficient reason for the non-compliance of GSTR-3B. Taxpayers can view the application and related notices, replies, and orders under the ‘Services’ tab.
Step 1: Log in to the GST Portal.
Step 2: Unde ‘Services’, select ‘User Services’ and then ‘View Additional Notices/Orders’.
Step 3: ‘View’ the desired application.
Step 4: On the Case Details page of that particular application, select the ‘APPLICATIONS tab’. Here, click the ‘DOWNLOAD APPLICATION’ button to download and view the application in PDF format.
To reduce manual intervention and to promote faceless assessment and appeal, the Government has provided a ‘Reply’ option on the portal. That means, in case a Taxpayer receives any notice in response to the application (Form EWB-05), he/she can reply for the same directly from the dashboard. To view related notices, follow Steps 1,2 and 3 as mentioned above. Step 4: On the ‘Case Details’ page of that particular application, select the ‘NOTICES’ tab. Here, click on the Notice Type to download the personal hearing notice in PDF format.
Step 5: To reply to the issued Notice, click on the ‘Reply’ hyperlink.

Step 6: Select the ‘Verification’ check box and the Name of the Authorized Signatory from the drop-down list. Click on ‘PROCEED’.
Step 7: On the Submit Application page, select ‘FILE WITH DSC’ or ‘FILE WITH EVC’ as suitable. Step 7: Validate details. If the DSC option is selected:

A confirmation message will be displayed communicating that the reply has been filed successfully. Click on ‘OK’. The ‘REPLIES’ tab will be displayed on the dashboard with the record of the filed reply. The status of the application will be automatically updated to ‘Reply to Personal Hearing Filed’. The Taxpayer can view and download the reply in the ‘Reply Filed’ section of the table.
Once the Taxpayer has filed the reply, the department will assess it and issue a corresponding order for the application. This order can be viewed on the ‘Case Details’ page. To download the order for acceptance or rejection of Unblocking of E-Way Bill Generation Facility, follow

Step 4: On the ‘Case Details’ page, click on the ‘ORDERS’ tab. Here, select the order in the Order Type to download it in a PDF format.
