GST registration depicts the nature of economic stability. Uttar Pradesh has the largest share of small businesses with over 3,57,000 composition dealers while Maharashtra has over 1,22,000 composition dealers. Also Maharashtra and UP have 1.48 million and 1.33 million taxpayers respectively. These statistics are based on the official governmental GST registration data in the 2017-22 period. Higher the GST registration of a state, the more the economic power and stability of the state. GST registration indicates the economic stability of a particular state.
States like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu stand right after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra in the GST registration list. If smaller traders who pay taxes on a quarterly basis and not regularly are included, Uttar Pradesh will then have 1.69 million Goods and Services Tax registrations. These statistics were not shown in the previously available official data. These figures however do not include minuscule service distributors and casual taxpayers who are smaller in number.
Gujarat has 1.09 million normal and composition taxpayers, while Tamil Nadu has 1.06 million Goods and Services Tax registrations. Karnataka has over 9,53,000 GST registrations. While Rajasthan has over 7,95,000 GST registrations. Some North-East states like Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Lakshadweep and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands have fewer than 10,000 Goods and Services Tax registrations.
Businessmen having businesses in different states of India are required to take Goods and Service Tax Registration in each of the states where they operate their business.
