Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the due date for filing ITR (Income Tax Return) for FY 2018-19 to 31st August 2019 from 31st July 2019 for certain types of taxpayers who were required to file their ITR by 31st July 2019.
Every assessee was eagerly waiting for this announcement as many CAs (Chartered Accountants) and other tax practitioner societies had asked the government to extend the due date for ITR filing as Form-16 was delayed.
The extension of due-date of ITR filing comes as a much-needed relief as there were various issues that the taxpayer was facing at the time of filing ITR by July 31st. This new due date will be extended for those assesses including non-corporate entities, the books of which need not be audited, said the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
However, it shall be noted that assessees and corporates whose accounts are required to be audited for tax purposes, for them the due date for filing Income Tax Return is 30th September 2019.
