Last Date for Filing GSTR 3B

GSTR-3B is a type of self-declared summary Goods and Services Tax return form that is filed every month by taxpayers. A separate GSTR-3B form must be filed for every GSTIN. Taxpayers are required to record the summary figures of their sales, input tax credit and net tax payable in GSTR-3B.

The due date for filing GSTR 3B is extended because of the technical glitch faced by the taxpayers for filing their return for the month of April. However, the proposal for extending the due date by the CBIC (Central Board of Direct Taxes) is under active consideration. “Inconvenience caused to the taxpayers is regretted”, said the CBIC’s official Twitter handle.

The famous tech company, Infosys has been directed by the Central government to fix this technical glitch at the earliest. Infosys’s technical team is working to provide GSTR-2B and correct auto-populated GSTR-3B at the earliest, according to the official Twitter handle of CBIC.

Recently, the taxpayers have reported problems with the generation of April 2022 GSTR-2B and auto-population of GSTR-3B on the portal of GSTIN. In a few cases, certain records are not reflected in the GSTR-2B statement for the month of April 2022. However, such records were visible in GSTR-2A of such recipients.

After receiving a plethora of complaints from the taxpayers regarding the technical glitch the Goods and Service Tax Network also known as GSTN issued an advisory on the 15th of May regarding incomplete GSTR-2B.

According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes and Customs, the technical team is working efficiently to resolve this issue for the taxpayers impacted by this technical glitch. The CBIC has also asked the affected taxpayers who are willing to file GSTR-38 to file the return on self-assessment using GSTR-2A.
