The Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 (ESI Act), was the first major legislation on social Security for workers post-independence of India. The ESI Scheme is administered by a statutory corporate body called the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), which has members representing Employers, Employees, the Central Government, State Government, Medical Profession, and the Hon’ble Members of Parliament. The ESIC Act 1948 incorporates various health related eventualities that the workers are generally exposed to, such as sickness, maternity, temporary or permanent disablement, death due to employment injury, resulting in loss of wages or earning capacity etc under Eway bill.
As per Section 2(12), of the ESI Act, the Act shall apply to all non-seasonal factories employing ten or more persons, you can also ESIC search by name. Under Section 1(5) of the Act, The Central Government of India has extended the coverage to the following under GST search.
Employing 20 or more Persons, where Central Government is the appropriate Government in GST number search. The existing wage limit for coverage under the Act effective from 01.01.2017 is Rs.21,000/- per month (Rs.25,000/- per month, in the case of Persons with Disability) calculated with GST calculator.
The ESIC employer login portal offers a variety of services that are broadly divided into two categories, namely Employer Services and Employee Services in ESIC portal application login.
ESI Scheme is contributory in nature, and therefore all the employees of the factories or establishments to which the Act applies shall make applicable contributions as provided in the Act in HSN Code List. The contribution payable shall comprise of Employer’s contribution and employee’s contribution at the specified rate. These rates are revised from time to time. Currently, the employee’s contribution rate is 0.75 % of the wages and the Employer's contribution is 3.25% of the wages paid/ payable (w.e.f. 1st July 2019).
The Corporation may levy and recover damages under Reg. 31C at the following rates,

It is mandatory for an employer to get registered within 15 days online www.esic.in who becomes coverable under the ESI Act 1948. After successfully registering on the ESIC Portal the employer will get a 17 digit code through ESIC portal login. An employer need not generate a separate code for different branches located in India but has to generate sub-codes.
Note: Sub-codes is for those branches that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the regional or sub-regional office of the main office.
The Factory/Establishment to which the Act applies can be registered through ESIC login employee for ESIC login employer on www.esic.in login within 15 days from the date of the Act’s applicability. The Employer who meets the criteria of registration shall provide details like factory or establishment name, Address of the Employer, Employer’s name, Bank Account details, PAN, e-mail address for ESIC employer login. The Employer would be then provided with a user ID and a password through which he can avail ESIC portal login facility. The ESIC is applicable to all those establishments and factories that fall under ESI Act having ten or more employees. Currently, the wage limit for ESIC applicability is 21,000 INR. Under the ESI scheme, the insured person or his family member get both cash and non-cash benefits. Some of the common examples of cash benefits are Sickness, Disablement, Maternity, Funeral expenses.
Any employer with ten or more employees must register themselves within 15 days at the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation. Employee Insurance Corporation allows ESI registration via the official portal of ESIC. After the registration process begins, employers will be provided with a 17-digit code and ESIC certificates in the email ID. The employers can use these credentials such as Labour Identification Number’ and Password for ESIC login. After clicking https://www.esic.nic.in/, you will see’ Services’ on the left side of the screen. Click on that and select ‘Employer’ and ‘Employer Portal’.
The employer can log into the ESIC Portal utilizing the 17 digit code and register his employees on the portal. However, at the time of first employment, the employee has to register under ESI Scheme all by himself, including his family member details, permanent address, and temporary address (if any), etc. Once the entire registration process is complete, the employee receives a unique life insurance number regardless of a job change or not change. In addition to this, after registering, the employee gets a TIC (Temporary Identity Card) that is valid for three months, within which he has to apply for the PEHCHAN Card.
