    Step1: Go to the GST portal http://www.gst.gov.in
    Step2: Click on login button.
    Step3: You can find “Forgot Username” button in the bottom of the page.
    Step4: In the next page, you will submit your GST Registration Number (GSTIN) or any Provisional ID or UIN. Then click on “Generate OTP” button.
    Step5: You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number and on the email ID.
    Step6: Enter the OTP at the required field and click on ‘submit’.
    Check you mail, as GST user ID will be sent on your registered mail ID.

    After uploading of the documents, tax officer will reset the password for GSTIN in the system and username and temporary password reset will be communicated to the new e-mail address as entered by the officer.

    Then taxpayer have to login on GST portal using the username and the temporary password e-mailed to him. The username and password can now be changed by the taxpayer.

    Application Reference Number (ARN) is also generated at the time of submitting GST registration application that is electronically signed using DSC. Future correspondence with GST, if required can be executed by quoting such ARN number for easy reference for the GST authorities.
    Also, if within 15 days of the generation of the TRN, your Aadhaar details are not verified, an ARN for Registration Application will be generated and your Registration application will be marked for mandatory site visit and approval thereafter by the Tax Official.

Incase you have forgotten your TRN or did not write it down then check you mail id or SMS on the mobile number provided at the time of filling details of part A.

    If you cannot retrieve TRN from Mail or phone, due to any reason, you need to fill in all the details in PART A of the Registration Application again. Once the process is completed, a message will be displayed ‘You already have a TRN generated < TRN number > with this combination’.
    Save the TRN this time.
