A PAN card has simplified the taxation system for the government, providing sufficient information and bringing transparency in financial transactions. Ways to Track Your PAN Status
After filing an application, an individual needs to wait for around 15 working days to get the PAN. On filing an application, the government provides a 15-digit acknowledgment number to each applicant to track their application status. Applicants can select from three modes to track their application status.
1. SMS Facility
Applicants can select SMS facility to track their application status. For this, applicants need to send an SMS – ‘NSDLPAN15 digit acknowledgment number’ to 57575. After sending the SMS, they will receive a text message indicating the current status of their PAN card application.
2. Telephone Call
Telephone call service is another way of knowing the PAN application status. The service helps the applicants to speak with a customer care executive over the phone to know their application status. Applicants can call the TIN call center to receive an update on the current PAN status. One can reach the call center on 020-27218080, and by providing their application acknowledgment number; they can quickly know their application status.
3. Online Tracking
Pan card applicants can also track their application online, through the official PAN website – TIN-NSDL. Out of the three available modes, online tracking of a PAN application status is the fastest mode. To track the application status online, applicants need to follow a few steps to check any changes in their application status.
Steps to Know the PAN Status Online
To know the status of your Application online:
- Log on to the PAN official website – TIN-NSDL.
- Find the PAN section of the website.
- Click on “Track your PAN Application Status.”
- Select “Check status online.”
- Choose the application type – New or updated.
- Provide the required including the 15 digit acknowledgment number, full name, and date of birth.
- After submitting the necessary information, you will redirect to a new page showing the current status of your PAN application.
Once you get a Permanent Account Number (PAN) in India, it will come with lifetime validity. The card will not be affected by any change in your residential or office address. If you find any mistake in the details at the time of obtaining the PAN, notify the Income Tax Department immediately. You can also request for a change of photograph on your PAN Card. For the required changes, you should provide all relevant details in the form – Request for New PAN Card or Correction in PAN Data, which is available at the Income Tax Department’s website.
