Q 1. How to log in to the GST Portal using Provisional ID or GSTIN?
Ans. You need to follow the below-mentioned steps to log in using Provisional ID or GSTIN:
- Step 1: Open the GST Portal.
- Step 2: Click on the login button.
- Step 3: Choose the First-time login option on the login page
- Step 4: The portal will redirect to a new login page, where you need to enter the GSTIN/Provisional ID/UIN received on your e-mail address in the GSTIN/Provisional ID/UIN field.
- Step 5: Once you have entered the required ID, type in the password received on the registered email ID.
- Step 6: Write the captcha code and click on log in.
- Step 7: After tapping on login, the portal will be redirected to a new credential page. On this page, you need to enter the user name and password you want to use next time.
- Step 8: In the re-confirm password field, enter the password again.
- Step 9: Enter the submit button.
- Step 10: Now, you can use the above-created credentials at the time of GST Portal login.
Q 2. How can I log in to the GST Portal using credentials?
Ans. You need to follow the below-mentioned steps to log in using credentials:
- Step 1: Open the GST Portal.
- Step 2: Click on the login button.
- Step 3: Enter the username created by you in the username field and the password created by you in the password field.
- Step 4: After entering the above credential, enter the required captcha code.
- Step 5: Click on the LOGIN button.

Q 3. How to retrieve a username?
Ans. To retrieve the username, you need to do the following steps:
- Step 1: Open the GST Portal.
- Step 2: Click on the login button.
- Step 3: After clicking on the login button, choose the Forgot Username option.
- Step 4: You will be redirected to a new login page, where you need to enter the GSTIN/Provisional ID/UIN received on your e-mail address in the GSTIN/Provisional ID/UIN field.
- Step 5: Enter the captcha code being displayed.
- Step 6: After entering the code, click on the Generate OTP tab.
- Step 7: Enter the OTP received.
- Step 8: After entering the OTP, click on the SUBMIT button.
- Step 9: Once you click on the submit button, your user name will be sent to your registered e-mail ID.
- Step 10: Check your mail ID to retrieve your username.
Q 4. How to retrieve my password?
Ans. To retrieve your password, the following steps need to be done: To retrieve the username, one needs to follow these steps:
- Step 1: Open the GST Portal.
- Step 2: Click on the login button.
- Step 3: After tapping on the login button, choose Forgot Password.
- Step 4: You will be redirected to a fresh page wherein you will be required to enter the user name
- Step 5. Type the captcha text displayed on the screen.
- Step 6: Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen.
- Step 7: After entering the captcha code, click on the Generate OTP button.
- Step 8: Enter the OTP received on the verification page.
- Step 9: After entering the OTP, tap on the CONTINUE button.
- Step 10: You will be redirected to a new page wherein you will need to enter the new password and ensure the same by re-entering it.
- Step 11: Once you have entered the new password, tap on the SUBMIT button
- Step 12: You will now be able to use the new password to log into the GST Portal.
Q 5. How do I change my password? Ans. The below-mentioned steps are to be followed to change your password:
- Step 1: Open the GST Portal.
- Step 2: Click on the login button.
- Step 3: Log in to the portal using the valid login credentials and captcha code.
- Step 4: Once you have successfully signed into the GST Portal, click on the Change Password link.
- Step 5: You will be redirected to a fresh page after clicking on the above link. You need to enter your old password and the new password you need to create on this page. It must be noted that the new password should not match the previous five passwords.
- Step 6: Re-enter the new set password that you want to create in the re-confirm password field.
- Step 7: After entering the password, click on the Change Password.
- Step 8: You can now use this new password to log in to the GST Portal.
Note: You need to change the password compulsorily after 120 days.
